To avoid fines and prosecution from HSE inspectors it is important to ensure that workplaces are abiding by The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This section looks at the Health and Safety at Work Act, which includes the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, and how this applies to Local Exhaust Ventilation.
An LEV System and its Components
This part of the course looks in detail at the different components of the LEV system such as the hood, duct, filter, fan and exhaust.
Ability to Identify Problems with the LEV System
Even if you have a LEV in your establishment, do you know that it is working properly? Would you know what to look for if it isn’t? Learn how to establish if your LEV system is working effectively.
Management and use of LEV
In order to comply with the law the local exhaust ventilation system must be well managed and the employer has duties with regards to the design, use and maintenance of the system. Learn how to risk assess the process and emissions and how to establish the degree of control by LEV that is required.
