A recent survey has revealed that 1 in 5 employees have been forced to take time off work due to stress after dealing with unrealistic expectations.
Serviced Office Provider, Business Environment, found that 29% or workers feel stressed at work all, or most of the time, and 21% said they took work home at least once or twice a week.
Prolonged stress can lead to a variety of health problems including heart disease, depression and sleep problems.
Additionally the survey found that some people are turning to unhealthy methods of relaxation such as excessive smoking and drinking alcohol in order to deal with stress.
Apart from the detrimental effect on employees health and wellbeing, it is also estimated that billions of pounds are being lost in days taken off with stress.
