Provisional figures for the year 2013/14 show that there were fewer fatal work related accidents than in any other year. 133 workers were fatally injured between April 2013 and March 2014, compared with 150 in the previous year. The overall rate of fatal injury has dropped to 0.44 per 100,000 workers, compared to 0.51 in 2012/13.
The figure of 133 fatal injuries is 19% lower than the average for the last 5 years (164).
